Central Goods and Services Tax is a GST imposed by the Centre on intra-state supply of goods and services. CGST is imposed under the Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) Act, 2016. Different indirect taxes, such as additional excise duty, service tax, central sales tax, and central excise duty, and Special Additional Duty of Tax (SAD) surcharges are merged with CGST.
GST, a unified tax regime for indirect taxes. This is perhaps the biggest tax reform in the regime of indirect taxes as it succeeds a number of indirect taxes that are applicable under the current regime.
The taxation framework in India is about to experience a radical shift once the GST (Goods and Services Tax) system takes over.
